Bicycle Tour of Takilma Gardens

11AM to 5PM-ish

$25 plus $5 for garden-fresh lunch

($10 discount for members; ask about

work-trade option)

 

Bike through the Takilma countryside and visit some of the longest established and most productive gardens in town. Learn about the

many styles used in growing food crops, and get tips from local long-term gardeners. Enjoy garden treats and a dip in the beautiful

Illinois River as we practice carbon neutrality. 

There is talk of a free bike repair clinic in prep for the ride on August 12th. Stay tuned!


Grace Brookman has been gardening and farming in the Pacific Northwest since her childhood when one of her favorite chores was to weed the

garden. As an adult, she’s worked on OrganicFarms in Olympia and southern Oregon, including Chinook Bar Ranch here in the Illinois Valley.

Grace has worked in Environmental Educationand Salmon Restoration. Bicycling, growingfood and watching wild salmon are three of her favorite pastimes.
