Biochar Project
Biochar is beneficial charcoal that aerates the soil, retains moisture and holds nutrients, providing habitat for soil micoorganisms and fungi that boost soil fertility. The process of making biochar can provide fuel for heating and cooking. With a grant from the WHH Foundation, we are developing curriculum for school children on the cultural, scientific and environmental aspects of biochar. Experiments will be conducted by Dome School students with a biochar kiln built at Frog Farm.
