The Hope Mountain Herbal Gathering is a family-friendly camp out weekend providing educational, networking and marketing opportunities for the herbal community and general public in a fun and festive atmosphere. There will be many workshops, herb walks, an herbal marketplace, local food (pre-ordered only), and kids classes (not childcare).
NO DOGS ALLOWED! This is a working Permaculture farm with livestock.

Biographies
Annie Ocean has been living in Southern Oregyn on Womxn’s Intentional Community Land for 30+years. She attended many Southern Oregyn womxn’s herbal gathering in the 80’s and 90’s. She is an earth loving green witch, Native Oregonian, and herbal/food wildcrafter.
Christine Perala Gardiner has a BA in Botany & Environmental Studies from Pitzer College, Claremont CA 1987, and a PhD in Geography from Middlesex University in Britain, 1999. She taught botany for YoSan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Santa Monica CA in 1990-91. This teaching experience strengthened her appreciation of western plant science for herbal medicine. She'll present basic principles of western plant taxonomy (or scientific naming system) for herbalists at the Herbal Gathering.
Debbie Lukas has been selling her herbal products since 1987, and has studied with herbalists Jane Bothwell, Adam Seller, Christopher Hobbs and Michael Moore. She completed three years of clinical herbal studies at Dominion Herbal College in Vancouver, BC. Deb offers classes, talks, apprenticeships, consultations, herbal nursery starts, and herbal pharmacy formulations and products.
Diane Floyd is a self-taught herbalist and fermenter. She took a class with Sandor Katz at the Frog Farm, which opened the door to wild fermenting and more. She makes miso, kim chi, sauerkraut, and kefir.
Dr. Margaret Philhower, ND, PC is an Oregon state licensed Naturopathic Doctor with extensive training in complimentary and alternative medicine. Her clinic in the heart of beautiful Takilma, Oregon provides natural family medicine services to Cave Junction and the greater Illinois Valley community.
Fonta Molyneaux is a graduate of Yerba Woman School of Botanical Studies in Mendocino County, CA in 2003 and a Certified Birth Assistant. She is a mother of three children whom she home-schools and homesteads along with her husband on their Illinois Valley based farm "BeetRoots Farm & Nursery". They grow over 100 varieties of medicinal herb starts and raise much of their food.
Greta de la Montagne, RH (AHG), Clinical Herbalist and Holistic Health Practitioner, is owner of Gentle Strength Botanicals & Massage Therapy near Arcata, CA, where she grows & wildcrafts nearly all the medicines for her apothecary on her small farm. She founded the MASHH Clinic Collective, Cascadia Health Educators, and was a member of Black Cross Health Collective. A native Montanan from the wilds of Yellowstone, she has been a clinical herbalist and backwoods medic for almost 20 years; her expertise is in herbal first aid, wilderness first response, and Ayurveda. Greta’s teachers include Michael Moore, Dr. Vasant Lad, and Dr. Roger Wicke and her studies have included 12 years of combined study at Hollowtop Outdoor Primitive School, Southwest School of Botanical Medicine, Rocky Mountain Herbal Institute, Ayurvedic Institute, and Heartwood Institute.
Jon Carleson studied with renowned herbalist Michael Moore, and graduated from Southwest School of Botanical Medicine. He is the founder of the Vitalist School of Herbology in Ashland Oregon, and has maintained a clinical practice in the Vitalist Tradition for the past 13 years.
Joseph Cerecedes has studied with international leaders in the field of industrial mycology, medical mycology, as well as restorative mycology for nearly a decade. He has been certificated by Paul Stamets at Fungi Perfecti Labs, as well as John Holliday at Aloha Medicinals, and has done extensive work and research with both facilities. He completed a post-doctoral research program through Aloha Medicinals, the leading Cordyceps producer in the USA. Joseph co-authored a peer-reviewed article on Cordyceps with the international leaders in Cordyceps fungi, which was published in the Encyclopedia of Dietary Supplements by the National Institutes of Health and the Center for Disease Control. With over 10 years of experience as a mycologist, Joseph worked in commercial Class 100 Clean rooms that were responsible for the production of biopharmaceuticals medications for the United Nations utilizing medicinal fungi to treat Hepatitis and HIV infections on 48 countries. He is currently in the process of publishing his first book, detailing his research, and experience running a nutraceutical company specializing in medicinal fungi.
Karen Beesley is a Nurse Practitioner Nurse Midwife and Certifed Arvigo Therapist. She graduated with a masters of science in nursing with a midwifery specialty. Since then she has sought out natural methods for healing our minds bodies and soul: Shamanic, herbal, 12-step, goddesses, plants, nutrition, supplements, yoga, Qi gong, massage, and much more.
Karin Rohland has a passion for plants and their relationships with human beings. She has a degree in Botany from Oregon State University and has been blessed to spend years working/botanizing in Oregon’s wild places. A recent graduate of Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, she is interested in utilizing North American plants in the practice of Chinese Medicine.
Laurel Peña is a graduate of the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine and an ongoing student of health care in both alternative and mainstream forms. As a WEMT (Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician) she works with the local volunteer ambulance service and provides medical support for events and backcountry trips. As a Clinical Herbalist, she offers classes and consultations. Laurel also provides herbal preparations grown and gathered in the Klamath-Siskiyou Bioregion.
Lori Duckworth is the Executive Director of Southern Oregon NORML & the S.O. Cannabis Community Center. She enjoyed a 23-year career in Geriatric Health Care, specializing in Dementia & Alzheimer's Disease. In 2008, Lori co-founded Southern Oregon NORML, (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) a non-profit organization, opening the first family friendly education and patient advocacy Center in Oregon, located in downtown Medford. After the first year of operations the organization grew into what is now known as Southern Oregon Cannabis Community Center, which respectfully exhibits a 'Pay it Forward' philosophy while directly contributing to the community with a positive and compassionate approach. The Center provides several social programs, as well as continuing education and legislation work. Lori lives in Cave Junction, Oregon.
Louisa Suta attended The American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, CA from 2000 to 2005, and worked in the school’s herbal garden. She is a licensed Acupuncturist, including herbs in her scope of practice since 2006.
Maureen Hanson studied Herbalism, Kinesionics and Culinary Herbalism with K.P. Khalsa. She maintains a beautiful herb garden in the Illinois Valley where she continues to apprentice with Debbie Lukas.
Sang Ly Montage is a Licensed Acupuncturist in Oregon. In her Corvallis clinic Sang emphasizes Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis and self-empowerment including lifestyle and nutritional counseling. She has studied extensively with Lonny Jarrett and Brandt Stickley in the Shen/Hammer Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis (C.C.P.D.) system. Sang attended Southwest Acupuncture College in Albuquerque, New Mexico. During her accelerated, three year program, she traveled and studied in Beijing, China at The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She continues her study in the C.C.P.D. and other aspects of Chinese Medicine with various teachers around the world.
Suzanne Vautier has spent the past twenty years sharing her passion for wild edibles with students in Oregon and Washington. She has studied from a multi-cultural perspective, working with elders and the plants. She is also a Certified Naturalist. Suzanne teaches classes about edible and useful plants for several women’s circles in Oregon and California, for organizations such as Lomakatsi, North Mountain Park, Hanley Farms, Spiral Living Center and others, as well as public and private schools. She consults with landowners, identifying edibles and promoting their use.
Out of Suzanne’s passion for wild edibles the Acorn Festival in Selma Oregon, was born. This November 5th will be the 4th annual Acorn Festival. The Acorn Festival culminates in a dinner where everything- salads, soups, main dishes and desserts are made with acorns. The folks who put on the Acorn Festival decided to organize into a nonprofit, and so the Cultural & Ecological Enhancement Network (CEEN) was incorporated in the spring of 2010. CEEN is involved in many projects that help people connect with the natural world around them.
