Illinois Valley Food Coalition (IVFoodCo)

in

The Illinois Valley Food Coalition (IV FoodCo) is a collaboration of farmers and community members working together to food self-sufficiency, safety and sharing. IV FoodCo's goal is to ensure that locally grown, safe and affordable foods are available to all Illinois Valley residents. Right now, most of our food comes from distant and unknown sources at increasing prices. We promote a sustainable model, encouraging people to "buy local".

The IV FoodCo organizes an annual Farm Festival, offers guidance to people who want to grow their own food, promotes the use of wild food, maintains an active gleaning network and offers educational classes and workshops.

The IV Gleaners harvest and distribute fruits and vegetables that would otherwise go to waste. Freshly picked produce is distributed to volunteer workers, landowners, food banks and the gleaning project. Please contact us if you have crops to donate, or if you would ike to help with the gleaning. The gleaning project is seeking donations of harvesting tools and supplies.
