Library hours are 10AM to 3PM, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays; 1 to 6PM
on Wednesdays.
Spiral Living Center has recently opened a Library which has over 1650 books relating to rural skills, homesteading and sustainable living. Spiral Living members may borrow books for 2 weeks after paying a $10 library fee. The fee covers maintenance of the books and library and utilities. The Library is located upstairs in the barn at the Frog Farm. We are also beginning to work on a tool rental "library" We are accepting old, broken or dull tools which will be repaired and available to borrow. New tools are welcome, too! Volunteers are needed for this project.
The Friday May 28th evening library opening was attended by around 20 people. In a casual atmosphere, complete with refreshments, people drifted easily into conversations about the books they were finding on the shelves. Great discussions about sustainable ways and community processes took place.
After a quick trial run of our library check-out system we were up and running. We checked out 11 books to 5 people. Six people became library members and there were 11 books donated including the prized "Carrots Love Tomatoes" a valuable book about companion planting.
