Takilma Tool Library

We are developing a lending library of tools for farmers and gardeners to share. This is a way for the cost of large tools to be sahred among many individuals, and to provide access to those with fewer resources.  Many farm tools are used only a few times a month, and sharing is economical, environmental and community-building.

This winter we plan to outline guidelines for members (annula maintainance fees) and nonmembers (rental fees, deposits), decide where to store and how to track tools borrowed, solicit tool donations, and find a willing person to repair and maintain the tools. We hope to "open" the library in the spring. After it is functional, we will promote other Tool Libraries throughout the Illinois Valley.
